RADIANT
Radiant is an ongoing dual-phased project aimed at imparting positive self-image, self-love, and self-appreciation into young black women.
RADIANT falls into two phases;
RE-seeing and REALization.
RE-seeing is a reinterpretation of three garments created between the years 2021-2023 as well as two newer designs that are in the making. This reinterpretation is to ensure cohesiveness between my garments and to make certain that they are a representation of my fashion style, which is a merge of Western historical fashion with African prints in a contemporary manner.
This phase is still ongoing. However, 3 garments have been completed and featured in the Fashion Futures runway show held at Chicago Cultural Center.
THE FUTURE OF RADIANT
The second phase of the project “REALization”, will entail the production of a 3- minute fashion campaign video and a lookbook that will showcase the five garments created in the RE-seeing phase of the project. The video and its subsequent photoshoot will take place outdoors- either at the Chicago Botanical Garden, Lincoln Park Conservatory, or Garden of the Phoenix, and indoors in a photo studio. Among the team helping me to realize this project will be photographers, videographers, makeup artists, hair stylists, and models (either within my circle of friends or models within the Black community). Props and exotic hairstyles will be essential in creating the regal aesthetic of the project.
